Emergency/Crisis Assistance Services

Indiana's crisis assistance program ended on June 30, 2010. An interim plan was created to serve people receiving Medicaid waiver services or services in a Supported Group Living group home. Please note that this plan is only for those people currently receiving services through a Medicaid waiver or Medicaid funded group home.

Crisis Calls for People Who Do Not Receive Medicaid Waiver or Group Home Services

We recommend that people in crisis who do not receive Medicaid waiver or group home services contact their local Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Office or call 800-545-7763. Please note that these numbers are answered during normal business hours only.

Crisis calls can also be made to the 24 Hour Crisis & Suicide Hotline: 317-251-7575 or 800-273-TALK.

If you or your loved one is in immediate risk or danger call 911.

Crisis Calls for People Receiveing Medicaid Home and Community Based Waiver Services

In a crisis situation, during regular business hours, individuals receiving Medicaid waiver services should contact their case manager for assistance. (Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

If assistance is needed outside of normal business hours, contact an Indiana Professional Management Group (IPMG) case manager, toll free, at 1-800-878-9133. If a case manager is unable to effectively address a situation, he or she may obtain a behavioral management consultant to conduct an in-person assessment for the individual. The behavioral management consultant will identify steps needed to stabilize the individual and coordinate with the case manager to obtain necessary services.

Crisis Calls for People Receiving Supervised Group Living (Group Home) Services:

Individuals in crisis who receive services in Supervised Group Living homes should contact their service coordinator for assistance during regular business hours. If assistance is needed outside of regular business hours, contact a service coordinator at 1-877-240-1764. The service coordinator will follow the same procedure as a case manager to assess the situation and determine if a behavioral clinician's support is necessary. Service coordinators will work with the behavioral clinician to identify how the individual should best be supported.
