Northwest Indiana Adult Guardianship Services, Inc.

Northwest Indiana Adult Guardianship Services, Inc. (NIAGS) is a nonprofit membership organization that provides a continuum of guardianship services and other law-related services for incapacitated persons above the age of 18 years old. The persons served by NIAGS are in need of a guardian and are under the probate jurisdiction of the Courts in Northwest Indiana. (Lake, Porter, LaPorte, Jasper, Newton, Starke, Pulaski Counties)

NIAGS provides guardianship services for incapacitated adults when such services are not available from other willing, capable or suitable relatives or other involved persons. It is the goal of the organization that the services it provides are administrated in the least restrictive manner and with the most respect for the value of all individuals in the community.

Northwest Indiana Adult Guardianship Services, Inc. is a member of the National Guardianship Association and follows the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics set forth by that professional organization.

NIAGS accepts Court appointments as the legal guardian for the adult individuals it serves and utilizes the services of trained and supervised community volunteer guardians, attorneys and staff case managers to work as a team to provide the services required to meet the needs of the protected person under the Court appointment.
