Public Policy Agenda

Each year The Arc of Indiana's Governmental Affairs Committee develops a public policy agenda to guide The Arc's efforts to make a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families.

Our guiding principles direct our public policy efforts:

  • The Arc of Indiana is committed to all people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families, and will work to develop programs, funding and public policy that will assist them in realizing their goals of learning, living, working and playing in the community.

  • The Arc of Indiana is committed to reducing the incidence of intellectual and other developmental disabilities. We will work to create public awareness of the importance of prenatal care and the dangers created by lead, alcohol and drugs.

  • The Arc of Indiana is committed to our local chapters and will work to develop programs and public policy that supports their mission of providing quality services to people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

  • The Arc of Indiana is committed to self-advocates and will work to ensure they receive the respect to which all people are entitled.
