You will be part of a strong voice that elected and appointed officials listen to and recognize in the Indiana General Assembly and Washington D.C.  The Arc of Indiana, Indiana's leading advocacy organization for people with mental retardation and related disabilities and their families, advocates for funding, legislation, regulations and state and national policy to benefit people with developmental disabilities and their families.

When you belong to The Arc, you receive support from other families and learn from the experiences of others.

...  Help Make a Difference, Continuing the Work Begun By Parents in 1956 
You will belong to a well-established and respected state association, formed in 1956 by parents of children with mental retardation and related disabilities, committed to progressive legislation to protect rights and improve services for people with developmental disabilities.

You will receive The Arc News in Indiana from the Arc of Indiana, and The Arc Insight from the Arc of the United States. You will receive notice of  The Arc's trainings, seminars, conferences, and special events; and help support and benefit from The Arc's resources -- information, referrals, and access to the latest information on laws, regulations, and government policies impacting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

You will meet and learn from other families and professionals through participation in state and national conferences and workshops, parent groups, chapter meetings, etc.

You will have the opportunity to participate in committees and board of directors of your local and state Arc, provide testimony and input on state policies, inform your local media, and become an advocate for change and a voice for people with disabilities.

When you become a member of The Arc of Indiana, you are a member of The Arc of the United States; and will have access to discounts on disability related products and service

How Do I Join The Arc?

If there is a local chapter of The Arc in your county, you can join by contacting your local Arc - when you join at the local level, you also become a member of The Arc of Indiana and The Arc of the United States.

If there is not a local chapter of The Arc in your county, you can join as an "at large" member of The Arc of Indiana,
you will also become a member of The Arc of the United States.
