SUMMARY:Extending the Least Restrictive Model to Decision Making
DESCRIPTION:At the Elevating Education 2023: Improving Outcomes for All conference, Karly Sciortino-Poulter will be talk about applying Least Restrictive concepts to decision making.  Schools strive to ensure students with disabilities are educated alongside their non-disabled peers in the least restrictive environment.  That least restrictive model also needs to extend to decision making.  New legislation requires schools to discuss less restrictive alternatives to guardianship during transition case conferences.  In this session, educators will learn about the wide array of decision making options available when a student turns 18.  They will learn how to incorporate decision making skills into lessons and how those skills align with state standards.\n
