DESCRIPTION:Karly Sciortino Poulter and Megan Stevenson will be Introducing The Arc Academy.\nThe Arc Academy is a new, self-paced, two pronged, online training platform. The Erskine Green Training Institute developed the first prong of the platform as a subscription based resource for teachers, job coaches, and employment specialists. In the six years since its opening, EGTI graduates have an 80%+ employment rate, and EGTI staff have developed interventions, strategies, and tools to help their students learn a variety of job skills. Through this portal, EGTI staff share their strategies, and the tools they have developed, to help their students achieve vocational success. The second prong of The Arc Academy is the advocacy portal. This is a free, online, self-paced platform that allows self-advocates, families, and professionals to learn about a wide variety of disability related topics at a time and pace convenient for them. This platform has short, 1-5 minute, introductory videos, and it has more in-depth, thorough, recorded webinars. The platform also provides comprehensive training modules comprised of videos on related topics such as Levels of Support (Guardianship and Alternatives), Employment, Self-Advocacy, Living a Good Life, and many more. If individuals choose to create a free account for the advocacy portal, they can earn a certificate for completing the various training modules.
