Celebrating Achievement – Shawn Fulton and Melody Cooper

Throughout Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month we celebrate the achievements of people impacted by a developmental disability.

As we close out the month, we celebrate Shawn Fulton, Self-Advocates of Indiana President and Education and Training Coordinator for The Arc Advocacy Network; and Melody Cooper, former SAI President and Self-Advocate Specialist for The Arc Advocacy Network.

Shawn and Melody are long time advocates in the disability community. They live SAI’s motto, “Nothing About Us Without Us,” by serving as a voice for people with developmental disabilities not only through SAI, but also as current or former members of task forces and committees that make critical decisions that impact the lives of people with I/DD and their families.

Melody CooperMelody is featured in the video Advocate for Change, produced in 2014; and be sure to check out videos on SAI’s YouTube channel in which Shawn discusses the importance of the COVID vaccine for himself, others with disabilities, and Direct Support Professionals.

You can read Shawn’s latest column, and learn more about SAI, on page two in the latest issue of The Arc News in Indiana.

Thank you, Shawn and Melody for your service and commitment.
