Learn About Fragile X Syndrome
Developmental disabilities are a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. About one in six children in the U.S. have one or more developmental disabilities or other developmental delays.
One condition that causes developmental delays is Fragile X Syndrome. As shared by the National Fragile X Foundation, Fragile X is a genetic condition that causes intellectual disability, behavioral and learning challenges, and various physical characteristics. Though FXS occurs in both genders, males are more frequently affected than females, and generally with greater severity.
