The Arc of Indiana has partnered with Riley Hospital for Children and Allison Transmission to offer two unique job training programs through The Arc’s Erskine Green Training Institute (EGTI) to help participants build professional skills and achieve success — and the potential to transform their future.

Environmental Services
Housekeeping throughout the hospital.
Nutrition Services
Running the dish room, taking food carts to and from patient rooms — no food handling.
Kitchen Cook
Food handling, including cutting and cooking. Opportunity to earn a certification from ServSafe and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute.
Inventory Distribution
Taking inventory across medical supply rooms, maintaining the medical supply cart stock, scanning and ordering supplies.

Sub-Assembly
Students rotate between four manufacturing roles, including valve body and front loading.
Physical Requirements
Most shifts require 9 hours of standing. For those with physical restrictions, there is an alternative opportunity at the valve body station.

Who can apply to the training programs?
Students must be age 18 years or older to apply and enroll in the program. There is no age maximum.
Erskine Green Training Institute (EGTI), founded by The Arc of Indiana Foundation, is the first of its kind postsecondary vocational training program in the country. Opened in 2016, EGTI Muncie’s residential program provides training in hospitality, food service, healthcare, and inventory distribution. EGTI’s new Indy commuter program provides training at Riley Hospital for Children and Allison Transmission.
This is a commuter program. Participants must have their own transportation.
