Plain Talk About Health Insurance – Update on Coverage through ICHIA

Update from The Arc Insurance Project
Coverage through ICHIA Extended through January, 2014

Indiana Comprehensive Health Insurance Association, ICHIA, the State of Indiana’s “high risk” health plan for those with preexisting conditions and high risk conditions, has extended coverage to continue until the end of January 2014, in order to assist members who must transition to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.  Those currently covered with ICHIA will move to ACA marketplace plans or other commercial insurance, as ICHIA will phase out at the end of January.

If you are covered under ICHIA, you must find another health insurance plan and have coverage start before ICHIA coverage ends at the end of January 2014.  To sign up for an ACA plan, go to or contact a local Navigator.  To get information on commercial health insurance, find an insurance broker or agent in your area who can assist you in looking at both ACA and commercial plans.  To find a broker or agent, go to the Indiana Department of Insurance website,
