Listen in as Michelle Fischer talks with Nick Parker, staff attorney for the Indianapolis Legal Access Partnership (LAP), a new program of Indiana Legal Services (ILS).
ILS is the largest provider of free civil legal assistance to eligible low-income people throughout Indiana. ILS has created the LAP program to provide legal services for eligible individuals with disabilities in the greater Indianapolis region. The program can help with government benefit appeals, communicating for a person with a disability who has been exploited or ignored by a landlord, and investigating if a criminal record is eligible for expungement. LAP can also provide assistance with decision making, including education about supported decision making, power of attorney and guardianship.
