The Arc of Indiana is pleased to partner with CareSource Foundation to continue to build a state-wide advocacy leadership network of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
The Arc of Indiana is recruiting to contract with four Senior Advocacy Consultants from around the state to help continue to lead the effort to build an advocacy leadership network.
Senior Advocacy Consultants:
- Are self-advocates and will have successfully completed the 2023-2024 Advocacy Leadership Fellow program.
- Will be responsible for supporting, guiding, and mentoring (4) new self-advocate Advocacy Leadership Fellows at The Arc of Indiana.
- Will be responsible for assisting the Advocacy Leadership Fellows with building a local community leadership network around effective advocacy.
- Will assist with facilitating remote monthly Leadership Training Sessions.
- Will serve as a Peer Mentor to the new Advocacy Leadership Fellows and other self-advocates around a specific successful lived experience.
The four Senior Advocacy Consultants will be located around the state and mentored by The Arc of Indiana’s Advocacy Engagement & Education Manager.
In addition to regular meetings with The Arc’s coordinator, there will be other key staff who will work directly with the Senior Advocacy Consultants to provide assistance and oversight.
The Senior Advocacy Consultants will effectively assist other self-advocates lead group conversations and mentoring sessions around leadership, advocacy, and engagement.
Our Senior Advocacy Consultants will help us with outreach efforts in their community to identify people who want to be a part of the Advocacy Leadership Network as well as potential community presenters.
We will utilize Charting the LifeCourse tools and concepts as a foundation of our learning and service objectives.
Senior Advocacy Consultants will be paid:
$1000 per month (6 months)
$100.00 per month as a Peer Menor (3 months)
$6300 TOTAL
The Arc of Indiana team will provide assistance to anyone who has concerns about benefits. The Arc of Indiana will work to collect all information to meet the reporting requirements regarding the Advocacy leadership Network.
Timeline:
- Recruitment: January 2025
- Start: January 13, 2025
- Training and Consulting: February – April 2025
- Guide, mentor, supervise remote meetings: May – June 2025
- Peer Mentoring: July-September 2025
Senior Advocacy Consultants should:
- Have a thorough understanding of their local community and issues that affect the lives of people with disabilities, while working closely alongside others at The Arc of Indiana to advance our mission.
- Have an ability to connect with other self-advocates to teach leadership and advocacy principles as well as mentor others with disabilities around issues affecting the lives of people with disabilities.
- Have access to a computer for training purposes and remote learning sessions.
- Have experience utilizing LifeCourse tools and principles as a foundation for conversations and learning, advocating for yourself and others with disabilities and leading advanced advocacy conversations.
