Bobbie Jo
The Arc of Indiana took a chance and hired me as their front desk coordinator. I was a team member from April 2014 to April 2019.
I had been out of the administrative field for 4 years and was seeking with all my heart to find something. The Arc came along and gave me a Chance.
A Chance to enrich my administrative skills to a level I never thought I would ever be at.
A Chance to grow and be more mindful about my rights about being employed with an intellectual disability.
A Chance to gain long-term employment that appealed to other employers, which led to great opportunities that were and are to come my way, now and in the future.
A Chance to sustain long-term friendships, which I still maintain, with some of my team members today.

The Arc of Indiana gave me a chance, helped me enhance my administrative skills, and helped me have more self-confidence in fighting for what I believe I’m capable of doing. I’m proud to say I’m very successful and living my employment dreams.
I work full-time for a law firm that practices injury law as its front-end manager. In my role, I’m able to share my skills and kindness with an organization that appreciates me as much as The Arc appreciated me.
I also work for the City of Troy, MI, as a part-time customer service assistant for the Clerk’s Office, co-chair a precinct during elections, and work part-time on weekends at a senior living facility as a receptionist, where I enjoy working with seniors.
I received help through Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), where they provided me a job coach. I became so successful that I won the 2024 Champion Award from MRS for Oakland County.

When I left The Arc, their last words to me were “The BEST IS YET TO COME,” as my heart was in agony about saying goodbye to my Arc Family that I held true and close to my heart for five years. I’m now able to encourage those who are still waiting for their dream job and waiting for someone to take a CHANCE on them. “The BEST IS YET TO COME for you as well.
The Arc took a CHANCE on me, and I have fought the good fight, and I’m not only a Winner but very Successful.
Thank you, The Arc of Indiana, from the bottom of my heart, for what you do and continue to do.
With much love and gratitude, Bobbie Jo
