Addressing Family Concerns with Employment

Sometimes, individuals with disabilities want to work, and their families can become a barrier to employment. Individuals are more successful in achieving their goals when they have a robust network of support, so we need to address the concerns of their support network to help them achieve their employment goals. Whether it is concerns about the impact of work on an individual’s benefits, concerns about treatment in the workplace, or concerns and confusion over a shifting job market, job coaches need to be able to talk with clients and their support networks about their concerns to assist the individual in achieving their employment goals.
