Work Without Worry: Teaching the Importance of Work Incentives

Description:

One of the biggest barriers to employment for people with disabilities is the fear of losing benefits.  A wide variety of work incentives allow people with disabilities to work while minimizing the impact of work on benefits.  However, people with disabilities and their families do not know or understand this information well, and they do not know how to report work incentives.  In this interactive session, we will discuss a variety of Impairment Related Work Expenses (IRWEs), Employer Subsidies, and Special Considerations.  As a group, we will share experiences, tips, and crowd source solutions to help people with disabilities learn how to document and report work incentives so they increase their comfort and confidence in employment.
