Naming of Erskine Green Training Institute Lacy Family Healthcare Programs

A graduate of EGTI’s Lacy Family Healthcare Program now works in Inventory Distribution at IU Health.

The Arc of Indiana Foundation is pleased to share that J.A. and Elizabeth Lacy have committed $350,000 in support of the foundation’s Erskine Green Training Institute (EGTI) and its mission to provide opportunities for postsecondary vocational training for people with disabilities that empower and lead to meaningful employment.

EGTI’s healthcare support training programs have been named Lacy Family Healthcare Programs in recognition of their support. In addition, the Lacy family is sponsoring a Lacy Family Fundraising Match that will directly match contributions to EGTI.

Andy Kirby, The Arc of Indiana Foundation executive director, said, “Elizabeth and J.A. Lacy learned directly about the value of EGTI’s vocational training program when their daughter, Julia, graduated from EGTI in 2020. The generous support of the Lacy family will help EGTI strengthen this program and ensure it will be available for future students.”

EGTI’s Lacy Family Healthcare Programs include training in:

  • Nutrition Services (Dishroom and Tray Transport)
  • Environmental Services (Housekeeping)
  • Patient Transport
  • Inventory Distribution

EGTI, established in 2016, provides vocational training for a variety of jobs in the hotel, food service, healthcare support and inventory distribution environments. It, along with its attached Courtyard Muncie at Horizon Convention Center hotel, is an immersive learning environment. In addition to hands-on job training, the curriculum addresses critical soft skills, including appropriate workplace etiquette, teamwork, taking direction, and effective communication skills.
