Raising a Strong Self-Advocate

Melody Cooper, past president of Self-Advocates of Indiana and current Region 5 Representative for Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE), a national self-advocacy organization, will discuss her journey to becoming a strong self advocate. From her childhood as a girl with cerebral plasy and an intellectual disability growing up in south Georgia to moving out on her own, working in the community, getting married, and becoming a state and nationally recognized leader, Melody has used her experience to find her voice and use it to empower herself and her fellow self-advocates while working to make the world a better place for people with disabilities.
